In 1999,the number of tourists in UK was more than two times of the figure in 1979.
英国是UK,england是英格兰,所以用england不准确.two times of the figure两倍的数量,‘比...多’,除了可以用more than,也可以用over代替.tourists in UK已经表示在英国旅游的人了,额外加个去英国旅游的who visited,个人觉得比较累赘,加上也没有错.
同时指出2楼的这位高手2个错误：
1.english作为名词没有英国的意思,只有英语语言,和英格兰人的意思（注意,是英格兰人而非英国人）.好比我个人多年在英国的亲身经历.如果你走到苏格兰或者北爱尔兰,你问一个路人说are you english?他们会毫不犹豫的摇头说,I'm irish,或者I'm Scottish.以上三个代表人的单词均为集合名词.
2.was more than doubled在2楼例句里应该改为has more than doubled.首先从多年英语会话直觉来讲就是错的.钻一下中国语法的牛角尖,就可以看出,被动语态和后面的that之间完全没有意义连接.
我猜2楼这位高手一定是马虎的原因.
