told后面是接宾语,不过它接的宾语是____he was,____he was作为一个整体表示他是谁,我们知道who和whom的区别在于前者即可以做主语又可以作为宾语,而后者却只能充当宾语.而在____he was这个单独的句子中,它其实充当的是主语成分,你问一个人是谁的时候,都是说who are you?而不会选择whom are you吧
PS：一般情况下,选择题中同时出现who和whom,都是选who的,因为他表示的范围比较大
