给你几个例子,我觉得bird-watching更学术一些,专指观察鸟类这种研究行为或者赏鸟这种娱乐活动（第二个句子说这个行为已经成为一种潮流了）

我觉得bird watching更好些,因为bird-watching是一种活动的名字,而watching bird虽然意义上和bird watching差不多,但是这只是在有上下文的前提下（题目中给了大环境,就是某个地域鸟类很多有利于观鸟,所以你就默认watching bird是观鸟）,如果把这个词组单独拿出来就显得很弱了,而bird watching一下子就能让别人知道在说什么.
我很早以前考得雅思,都忘记了,不知道这是到什么题,听力的话应该不是问答题而是选择题吧?选项中也没有watching bird了吧?如果只有bird watching那这项肯定对的.英文中有很多这样的表达法的（调换位置变成名词）
