1.rather than是一个并列连词（词组）,引导前后并列成分,一般要求它们性质一致,有时候甚至是形式一致.
比如该题中的ran和walked都是用动词过去式,做并列谓语.
2.这种句子类似于我们汉语中的反问句,一般是表示说话人肯定的含义.可以翻译成“难道...不是...”.
3.then的用法比较复杂,就简单说下哦：
1）then可以做形容词,意思是“当时的/时任的”.
2）then做副词最常见,一般有三种理
“到时/后来”= later,如：See you then；
“在那时”= at that time/moment,如：I was travelling in Europe then.那时我正在欧洲旅行.
“那么/然后”,如：You say you don't want to call a doctor.Then what do you want to do?你说你不想请医生.那么你想怎么办?
3）所以楼主需要明白then并不是连词,它不能连接两个并列的单句.
它一般只做副词,一般在句中做状语而已.
