楼主的问题,我想不是问它们在非肯定句中的区别,而是肯定句中,而且很可能是在比较状语从句中.这样的题目很常见：
1.Shanghai is larger than ____ city in China.
A.any other B.other C.the other D.any
2.Guangzhou is bigger than _____in Hunan.
A.any other city B.any other cities C.any city D.other city
1.A.Shanghai是中国的城市之一.any city in China表示中国的任何一个城市,包括了上海市本身,自己不能比自己还大,所以不选D.BC不用考虑.译：上海比中国的任何（其它）城市都大.（口语中这其它两字可省去不说,谁都知道你的意思,不会说你汉语语法有错,逻辑有错的,英语口语中是不是可以省略这个other,我不知道.但考试英语中不能省,否则扣分）
2.C.此题表面上看和题1相同,其实不然.因为广州是广东省的城市,不属于湖南省.它比湖南省的任何一个城市都大,所以选C.any city inn Hunan.
第二题由于答案是C,不是A,所以就更不会是B了.ABC这三个选项可以放在一起供选择.而题1,如果改成：
3.Shanghai is larger than _____in China.
A.any other city B.any other cities C.any city D.other city
问题出来了：答案是A,B可不可以?
万一碰到这样的问题,我的回答：选择题选 the best 答案.B选项不可以选.这样的句子最好别说.一般不这么说.（any用于肯定句中没有找到后跟可数名词复数的例句）
