except 与except for的区别在于：
从形式上看,except后面不仅可以接短语,还可以接that引导的从句,而except for后面只能接名词短语.
从内容上看,except表示“同类中除此以外”而except for则是“不同类中的除此以外”如：
We all went to the park except Mary.
除Mary外我们都去公园了.
其中,we与Mary是同类比较
Your composition is good except for the handwriting.
除字迹以外,你的作文很不错.
其中,composition 与handwriting是不同类比较
It will do except that it is too long.
这行,只是太长了一些.
besides 表示“除了…以外,其他的也”如：
We all went to the park besides Mary.
